Fraternity

Your journey with Masonic membership starts here at the Underwood Masonic Center with Corner Stone Lodge #99, where you become the focus. Once you become a Master Mason, you can explore various Masonic organizations offered at the Underwood Masonic Center.  You can discover the enriching experiences offered by the York Rite as you advance on your path or be apart of the "Lighter Side" of masonry by joining Shriners International and our very own Birak Shrine Club and Kar Kor.

MEMBERSHIP & LODGE CULTURE

For decades I worked for a small highway department that required us to clock in by 7AM.  But for many of us, arrival came an hour earlier.

There was no financial benefit to that early arrival, no work reason to get up an hour earlier than necessary, rather six o’clock meant one thing: morning coffee around the breakroom table.  No subject went unexplored, no traditional complaint about “The Man” unregistered, no one left unheard from, but there was also no agenda, no specific point, no report-outs.  So why’d we voluntarily lose an hour of sleep?  You already know the answer.  We liked each other, and the work culture was the better for it.

Do you go to Lodge early just to chat?  Do you stay late for no other reason than the before-meeting chat wasn’t quite finished?  Have you found in Lodge a group of people who just like being around each other, and who go out of their way to widen the circle to include everyone?  If the answer’s yes that’s wonderful, it’s one of the most cited reasons Masons stick around.  If the answer’s no, it’s one of the most cited reasons Masons don’t.

Widen your circle.  Do so intentionally.  Create a culture where no one could think of missing your version of a 6AM cup of coffee.  And your Lodge will be the better for it.
